Cecilie has worked as a feature- and column writer and photographer at the South China Morning Post, as a Cantonese radio presenter at Radio Television Hong Kong as well as making hundreds of podcasts and language videos and travel documentaries. After 30 years in China/Hong Kong where she ran Happy Jellyfish People’s Democratic Language Bureau specialising in making Cantonese a world language with the slogan “Learn Cantonese the Natural Way – from a Norwegian!” Cecilie’s life mission as a “Cantonese Fundamentalist” was to make the whole world speak Cantonese. Failing somewhat in this endeavour she eventually felt the pull of her European roots, and packed up her beloved “gaff” on Lantau Island, scene of hundreds of Sichuan lunches and dinners, in January 2018.
She now lives in Palma de Mallorca with her two dogs, enjoying fresh air and architectural beauty.
